Note. DirectX version 9.0c (or higher) must be installed on your computer. The program will not work without this Microsoft library. (You can find it here ).
Download the installation file:
(This file contains the executable, BSC5, SAC and Sky2000 directories and base textures).

Add-on (can only be used after paying the license fee ):

• Catalog Tycho 2 stars - 35 Mb.
• High Race Texture Pack (Version 1.002 from 09/21/2005) - 24 MB.
• Very high resolution texture pack - 150 MB.

To update:

• Just use the update function (in the Internet menu). Use this feature until you get the following message: "You have installed the latest version of WinStars."

Useful fixes when the update function does not work properly:

• maj.exe
• Unzip32.zip
  
  Unzip these two files into the original WinStars directory (by default c:\Programs\WinStars2). See the FAQ for more information on this process.

Scenery file (should be unpacked into a scenery directory):

All these images are on an FTP server. If you are unable to download these files, you must enable passive FTP mode in your web browser.
To change Internet Explorer's FTP client mode:

1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. Select the Use passive FTP (for firewall and DSL modem compatibility) check box.
5. Click OK.
